be soft

Be soft.
Do not let the world make you hard.
Do not let pain make you hate.
Do not let bitterness steal your sweetness.
Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree,
you still believe it to be a beautiful place.
- Kurt Vonnegut

i've been re-reading that quote on the regs lately.

flower power

sometimes you gotta stop (on the street that you take on your way home from work) and smell the (really pretty) roses.

but truth be told, its pitch black by the time I leave work at 5pm now.
so... now I make sure to get my fresh fix at lunch.

scream it to the nothingness

We laugh until we think we'll die,
barefoot on a summer night.
Never could be sweeter than with you.
- Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

a summer (more like year) of NINE weddings.
tired, broke, but... my heart is filled with so much love.
for all my beautiful friends who said yes to forever.

confession: this one was one of my favourites.
an intimate 30 person outdoor bbq party.
with fresh oysters, steaks, and hip hop.
my kinda party.

thinness with luxury

It says that if you fool other people into thinking you aren’t afraid than you won’t be. And I don’t believe this at all. I believe that you can only be unafraid if you find out what it is you fear and conquer it. All the pretense in the world won’t help you otherwise. At least that’s what I believe. It is a thin show which covers its thinness with luxury. -John Steinbeck

just like that, i blink and its fall.
but truly, our fall lasts for what seems like a second -
and then its winter.

what a shame, as although each season has its perks...

fall is the most beautiful.
and will always be my favourite.

symmetry for granted

Break a vase, and the love that reassembles the fragments is stronger than that love which took its symmetry for granted when it was whole.
- Derek Walcott

i'm kind of itching to run again.
sorta, kinda, really, a lot.

i'm kind of wanting to sprint, like, as fast as i can.

don't you think these are one of the best times of the year?
when all the snow has melted, the sun fights its way out, and the light decides to stay a little while longer.
that in itself really just makes your day better.

and then before you know it, summer blinks away and then welcomes winter once again.

spring, my oh my, you are a beautiful thing.

one of my faves in the city.

their big light-inviting windows and beautiful tiling...

... oh yeah, the food is pretty stellar too.

i gladly wear the crown

Oh the bitter winds are coming in
And I'm already missing the summer
Stockholm's cold but I've been told
I was born to endure this kind of weather
When it's you I find like a ghost in my mind
I am defeated and I gladly wear the crown
- Emmylou by First Aid Kit

oh my, the cold. bitter. winds... have definitely come in.
the kind that stings your face.

however, i must admit...
i enjoy taking deep, long breaths
of this cold air.
its refreshing and almost wakening.

cold fresh winter air is nice.
and yet,
warm tea with candle light nights are nice as well.

i'm trying to remember to be thankful for all seasons.

ps. tried my hand at this badboy last week. yum.
pps. listening to this. how cute.

there are no accidents either

"How could two people know each other so intimately without ever having told the old stories?
You get to an age where the stories don't matter anymore, and the stories once told
so passionately become a tide that never quite reaches the point of being said.
And there is no such thing as fate, but there are no accidents either."
- Simon Van Booy, from "Love Begins in Winter"

happy, happy, happy new year.
i hope & pray that 2015 will be a special and healthy year,
for me & mine, yours as well.
